Knut Restaurant Stockholm When visiting Stockholm, it is possible to taste top-tier Norrland (the north of Sweden) cuisine--with a visit to Restaurant Knut, the wonderfully uncomplicated, genuine, and passionate menu will leave you longing for the forests and clear waters further north. Described by many as homey and welcoming, Knut creates a traditional interior with simple stools lined along the bar and a handful of tables made from repurposed wooden planks surrounded by a mish-mash of chairs, some even donated from the owner's grandmother when they were no longer of use at the summer cottage. The chandelier of reindeer horns is one of Knut’s eye-catching features and adds a touch of wild to the otherwise sophisticated air of Stockholm. Knut offers up a local restaurant feel in a busy location on Upplandsgatan, a ten-minute walk from both Rådmansgatan and Odenplan metro stations--not far from the central station in the Vasastan neighborhood of Stockholm. Although the menu changes regularly with the seasons, I highly recommend the Plate from the North if available. A mix of reindeer, bleak roe with crème fraîche, arctic char, and moose heart will leave you feeling as if you have just traveled hours north to Jämtland. And for a very Swedish aperitif, be sure to try the cloudberry mojito. On a beautiful summer day, take your lunch or drinks outside on the terrace, soak up the sun, and watch the world go by.
