Drop Coffee Stockholm

Drop Coffee Stockholm

Much like Paris, Stockholm is experiencing a bit of a coffee renaissance. Don't get me wrong-Swedes have long been the masters of the coffee break or fika, but although this nation tops the charts for worldwide coffee consumption, drinking much beyond your basic extra strong filter coffee was unheard of until a few years ago.

Founded in 2009, Drop Coffee Roasters was one of the first in Stockholm to focus on the art of coffee making itself. The coffee bar, located in the heart of the trendy Södermalm district, originally doubled as the company's roasting facility which has since expanded to Västberga. Now operating as a full time cafe at this Wollmar Yxkullsgatan 10 location, the coffee is brewed to perfection by some of the most skilled baristas in Sweden, serving up both espresso based drinks and pour over filter coffee.

Voted coffee shop of the year 2014 according to White Guide, Drop Coffee serves breakfast and lunch, as well as homemade pastries such as semlor and kanelbullar for fika time. You can buy freshly roasted coffee to go, both as whole beans or ground on the spot according to your desired brewing method. The team is eager to chat with you about all things coffee, offering up advice and tips for better home brewing. While chains such as Wayne's Coffee and even Starbucks find their way onto Stockholm streets, it's nice to see the independent coffee roaster renaissance continue to gain momentum.
